The Buffalo Bills sorely missed the running game last year. Adding some free-agent running backs may help.

The top three rushers on the team last year were all within 250 yards of each other (Devin Singletary, Zack Moss, Josh Allen). However, when your leading rusher is only at 687 yards on the season, there are problems. Now, of course, General Manager Brandon Beane got some help within both ends of the trenches to help give the team a better chance at more possessions per game and for the offense to control the ball for longer.

Even after the UDFA mad-scramble, the Bills still did not even bring in any ballcarriers. This is why the team should consider some of these veteran free-agent running backs on the upcoming slides to compete for a role in the run game, whether that be the starter or a backup.

A run game would do wonders to keep those high-powered offenses off the field that the Bills will face in the playoffs. While the games may shift to an aerial barn-burner, establishing the run early will always open up your playbook by keeping the defense honest. With how lethal Stefon Diggs was last year, an improved running game can only make him more of a weapon headed into the 2021 season.
