Cornerback

To the surprise of many, the Buffalo Bills decided to add to their edge rush in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft and pass on selecting a cornerback. While it was not as an immediate need as it once appeared to be, Buffalo still does not have a long-term solution at CB2.

Across from Pro Bowler Tre’Davious White, this season will be Levi Wallace who is back on a one-year deal with the Bills. After going undrafted, Wallace made his way up the Bills’ roster all the way to a starting position on the opposite side of the field. While his impact on the field has been serviceable, at a time when the team looks to capitalize on the ‘Super Bowl window’ they currently have, Wallace may not be what the team needs.

Though the team did select a corner in the draft in Rachad Wildgoose, he is not the Greg Newsome, Caleb Farley or Asante Samuel Jr. fans were expecting them to select.

This leaves the team in the same position they were in last year, just with added depth.

Wallace will set on his third season as a starter for the Buffalo Bills. Taron Johnson will more than likely occupy the nickel position as he did last year with Dane Jackson being the backup option at those positions.

If Wildgoose is not able to progress, the Bills will be back at the draft needing to address the cornerback position again.
