Extend Jerry Hughes

As for the other veteran defensive end at the top of the depth chart, the Buffalo Bills should begin looking at extending Jerry Hughes past the 2021 season. This is the final year of his contract and even though he is 32 years old, he is still playing at a pretty high level.

This past season the sack totals weren’t great with only 4.5 sacks but he still is able to get pressure on the QB with 11 QB hits. There is also something to be said about having a veteran leader for the position with the youth the Buffalo Bills now have.

The team can also structure the extension in a way that creates some cap space this offseason to possibly address other positions that may need some depth. If the Bills can work out a two-year extension, that would be the best thing for this defense and the defensive end position.
