Buffalo Bills: 4 roster decisions they have to make after the 2021 NFL Draft

The 2021 NFL Draft is officially in the books and it is full-steam ahead towards offseason workouts, training camp and then the 2021 NFL season for the Buffalo Bills. While most of the big moves are likely done, the front office and general manager Brandon Beane are going to have some tough decisions over the next few weeks as they continue to shape this roster.

These four decisions are going to be more centered around the salary cap and contracts for the players.

Pick up the fifth-year option for Josh Allen and Tremaine Edmunds

This certainly is something that is just a matter of time and general manager Brandon Beane already mentioned this earlier in the offseason. The Buffalo Bills will have until May 3rd to pick up the fifth-year options of Josh Allen and Tremaine Edmunds, two players they selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

There is no question that Josh Allen’s will be picked up after the year he had this past season. He was one of the best quarterbacks in the league, earned a trip to the Pro Bowl, and finished second in the MVP voting.

As for Tremaine Edmunds, he is another player that this is assumed it’s going to happen but there is slightly more uncertainty. He has been the team’s middle linebacker the past three seasons stepping into the role almost immediately after being drafted.

However, Brandon Beane did say that it is not ideal picking up two fifth-year options considering where the salary cap is so if one player doesn’t get picked up, it would be Edmunds. They will have one option though to help manage the salary cap past this season which leads to the next decision.
