Cornerbacks

Players to Watch: Asante Samuels Jr., Ifeatu Melifonwu, Paulson Adebo

The Buffalo Bills did not use their first round pick on a cornerback even though this seemed to be one of their top needs and there were a number of good players still on the board. They are likely hoping that one of those top cornerbacks falls to them in the second round.

At the top of their draft board is Asante Samuel Jr. out of Florida State University. He is a player that the Bills met with twice and while he is a bit undersized, he isn’t afraid to step up in run support.

Another player who could be a great fit in the Bills defense is Ifeatu Melifonwu out of Syracuse. He is a player that has great size and length at 6’2″ and 212 pounds and is a prototypical zone corner. He is another player the Bills could target in the third round.

If they wait until the third round to address the position, Paulson Adebo out of Stanford could be a good fit as he is another cornerback that could excel in a zone coverage defense. He did opt out of this past season but had eight total interceptions in the two years prior.
