The focus for the final two picks is to find players who may not be starters for the defense but could find themselves playing an important role, potentially as early as their rookie season.
In the sixth round, the Bills add Bobby Brown III who is a big defensive tackle at 6’4″ and 315 pounds. He is a one-tech defensive tackle that would be the backup to Star Lotulelei but in a defense like the Bills it wouldn’t be surprising to see him play around 30% of the defensive snaps.
Then in the seventh round, the Bills find the big nickel they have been looking for with the selection of JaCoby Stevens out of LSU. He is a big safety at 6’1″ and 216 pounds that the coaching staff could put on the field depending on the matchup.

This past season, Taron Johnson was on the field for over 75% of the defensive snaps but by having Johnson play so much they give up size when offenses go to bigger personnel or have two tight ends on the field. By mixing in Stevens, the Bills get a safety that can matchup with the bigger pass catchers but also can help against the run.
