Round 5, 174th overall: Anthony Schwartz, WR (Auburn)

While the Buffalo Bills didn’t have a fourth round pick, they do have two fifth round picks with the prior pick coming from the Zay Jones trade. This pick is their original pick and they add a wide receiver with the potential to be the eventual replacement for Cole Beasley.

Anthony Schwartz is a slot receiver who is one of the fastest players in this entire draft class with a time of 4.24 seconds. He was a big play waiting to happen in college with an average of 12.2 yards per reception and had at least one reception over 50 yards each season, including a 91-yard reception this past season.

The selection of Anthony Schwartz is a little more forward thinking as Beasley does have two more years with the Buffalo Bills. When considering how he played this past season, there isn’t much reason to think he can’t remain at a high level for the remainder of his contract.

However, with a player like Schwartz’s speed, Brian Daboll can be creative with how he gets him on the field and he could play a similar role to Isaiah McKenzie before becoming the full-time slot receiver.
