The first round of the 2021 NFL Draft is less than 24 hours away and at this point, there doesn’t appear to be a clear direction that the Buffalo Bills are set to go. As it stands right now, they have the 30th overall pick but knowing general manager Brandon Beane’s history there is a good chance that this is not where the Bills pick on Thursday night, if they pick at all.
The Buffalo Bills are entering this NFL Draft with one of the best rosters they have had in recent memories. They brought back most of their starters and don’t have many glaring needs. While there are some places a rookie could make an impact, the focus this year should be adding depth with a focus more towards the future.
This is what I believe the Buffalo Bills will do in the final seven round mock draft before the 2021 NFL Draft.
Round 1, 30th Overall: Travis Etienne, RB (Clemson)
This week ESPN’s Todd McShay said that the Buffalo Bills were trying to trade up for Clemson running back Travis Etienne. I am not necessarily sold on the idea of the Bills trading up for Etienne but I do believe that if he is there when they are on the clock that he would be the pick.
General manager Brandon Beane has talked about a home run hitter at the running back position which Etienne certainly could bring. He also is one of the best pass-catching running backs and his presence on the field could make a good passing attack even better.
This past season, Devin Singletary finished third on the Buffalo Bills in receptions with 38 so the running back position has been utilized in the passing game. If the Bills replace Singletary with Etienne, there is no question the offense would improve.
