On Tuesday, Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane had a chance to talk with the media and the topic of running back came up. He mentioned he does like the players they have and said neither one of our guys, likely referring to Devin Singletary and Zack Moss, are “home run hitters“.

There is no question that this is something the Buffalo Bills lacked last year from the position as Singletary and Moss combined for only seven rushes over 20 yards. When considering that big play threat was missing, I have ranked the four running backs that fit best for what the Buffalo Bills could be looking for in the 2021 NFL Draft.

4. Javian Hawkins

Javian Hawkins, out of Louisville, is a player that the Buffalo Bills have already shown interest in and had met with him early in the draft process. It certainly makes sense when you watch Hawkins play as he is a threat to break off huge runs every time he touches the ball. This past season he had three carries over 70 yards and every game had at least one run that went 19 or more yards.

The concern with Hawkins is that he is on the smaller size at 5’8″ and 183 pounds. He is a player who likely won’t be able to command many touches and the coaching staff is going to need to pick their spots when they use him. However, he is a player that can be an effective playmaker for the Buffalo Bills as part of a committee in the backfield.
