Jake Fromm

The idea of trading Jake Fromm doesn’t make a great deal of sense on the surface considering they drafted him in the fifth round last year. He also hasn’t taken an NFL snap, either in the regular season or preseason, to this point in his career. This means that he is still a relatively unknown commodity and teams may not be willing to offer much for him.

However, the Bills are going to be faced with a tough decision when it is time to cut down the roster. At the top of the depth chart sits Josh Allen, who is coming off a career year and one of the best seasons in franchise history. The team then made a switch at the backup position this offseason by electing to not bring back Matt Barkley and instead signing Mitchell Trubisky to a one-year deal.

This now leaves Fromm and Davis Webb for the third quarterback position on the roster. Recently, Matt Parrino of syracuse.com had an excellent article about Webb and what he means to this team. The value he brings to the franchise, outside of being the third string quarterback, is something they wouldn’t want to lose and he should be the favorite for this job.

This is why Fromm could be a player who becomes available and if the Bills were to get essentially a fifth round pick back, it is something they should consider.
