Buffalo Bills 7-round mock draft starts with cornerback Caleb Farley
Round 5 – 174th Overall: Tedarrell Slaton, DT (Florida)
Then with the second of their two fifth round picks, the Buffalo Bills stay on the defensive side of the ball and add a big defensive tackle to anchor their line. The run defense was suspect at times for the Bills and while the return of Star Lotulelei will help, they need to find a long-term answer for the one-technique and that is a role Tedarrell Slaton can fill.
At 6’5″ and 340 pounds, Slaton is a player who is not moved around easily. He can be a player that clogs running lanes and takes up multiple offensive linemen which helps Ed Oliver. However, it also keeps blockers off linebackers like Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano, which allows them to get to the ball carrier and close quicker.
He is not a player that is going to generate sacks or pressure the quarterback, he only had 3.5 sacks last year, but with the depth, the Buffalo Bills have at the position and the other players they have, this is not something he would be expected to do.
