The Buffalo Bills continue to be very methodical through free agency and the offseason by addressing a number of needs. General manager Brandon Beane has been smart to add veterans and players with starting experience but working out only one-year deals.

This gives the team flexibility going into the 2021 NFL Draft to really focus on drafting the best player available. They have added players that they should feel confident going into the season with the roster they have but if they find a better player, they are able to make those roster changes with minimal dead cap.

While best player available is likely their direction, especially in the early rounds, it comes with an asterisk. There are a few positions that the Buffalo Bills will almost certainly avoid, even if the best player on the board plays that position.

These are four positions that fans should not expect the Buffalo Bills to draft in the first round.

Quarterback

Let’s start with the most obvious one and that is quarterback. The Buffalo Bills final have their franchise quarterback in Josh Allen after an impressive season with over 4,500 passing yards and 45 total touchdowns.

They also have three quarterbacks behind Allen who are more than capable as a backup in Mitchell Trubisky, Jake Fromm, and Davis Webb. This is a position that will almost certainly not be drafted at any point during the 2021 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills, especially in the first round.
