Last year, the Buffalo Bills made a splash with the trade for wide receiver Stefon Diggs. While the Bills needed a number one wide receiver, the thought of trading four draft picks to the Minnesota Vikings seemed a little steep.

However, in the end, the trade worked out great for the Bills, as well as Diggs, as he would go on to have a career year with 127 receptions and 1,535 receiving yards and he led the league in both categories. He would be selected to his first career Pro Bowl as well as first-team All-Pro and the connection he had with Josh Allen gave fans flashbacks to the days of Jim Kelly and Andre Reed.

There is no question that Stefon Diggs became a fan favorite of BillsMafia and after Josh Allen, he probably had one of the more popular jerseys in Western New York. On Monday, he probably gave fans a bit of a scare when he tweeted out about a possible number change to 1 or 7.

According to CBS Sports, the Kansas City Chiefs made a proposal to the league that would allow skill players to wear single-digit numbers. Currently, the league has restrictions on what numbers players can wear based on their position and single-digit numbers are limited to quarterbacks, punters, and kickers.

The fact that Stefon Diggs would consider the number change makes sense since he wore number one in college at the University of Maryland.

However, the idea was short-lived and it appears even if the rule change takes effect, he will stick with number 14. Later on Monday, he tweeted that after consideration he appreciated fans supporting him by purchasing the number 14 jersey and didn’t want to change his number.

There is no question that fans certainly appreciate that Stefon Diggs won’t be switching his number and just another reason why fans are happy he is a member of the Buffalo Bills.
