Buffalo Bills: 4 Alabama prospects to target in 2021 NFL Draft
The first Alabama prospect to look into is big Alex Leatherwood. Leatherwood played his past three seasons at Alabama at left tackle where he did very well, only showing some slight deficiencies. Before switching to left tackle Leatherwood played on the inside of the offensive line.
At 6’6″ and almost 315 pounds, Leatherwood has excellent length and overall size for an NFL offensive tackle. The only concern with Leatherwood at offensive tackle is that he has shown to be susceptible to being beat by speed rushers and speed rushers are only more talented at the next level. That being said, Leatherwood has put up some quality tape over the past few years that should earn him a legitimate chance to compete as an offensive tackle at the next level.
However, Leatherwood’s mauling presence and run blocking prowess has brought a lot of attention to him being able to play guard, which he did show he can do while at Alabama. Additionally, he played a handful of reps during his week at the Reese’s Senior Bowl at guard. Regardless of where he projects best to play in the NFL, the Buffalo Bills will be interested in him. The Bills are still without a swing tackle as of right now and could still use some competition at right guard or left guard to push Cody Ford and Jon Felciano to be the best versions of themselves.
