Buffalo Bills: 3 teams that could be interested in trading for Jake Fromm
Initially, after the Buffalo Bills signed Mitchell Trubisky, they were still rumored to be in trade negotiations with the Philadelphia Eagles for tight end Zach Ertz. So my thought process was maybe sending the Eagles Jake Fromm and one of our two 5th round picks could get the trade done for Zach Ertz. However, after signing tight end Jacob Hollister, I think it is much less likely that the Bills continue to pursue a trade for Zach Ertz, but it’s still a possibility.
Assuming Ertz is off the table, trading with the Eagles would really only entice the Bills if they can acquire some extra draft capital. Similar to the Buffalo Bills, the Philadelphia Eagles are heading into the 2021 NFL Draft without a 4th round draft pick. Since the Eagles don’t have a 4th round pick, I assumed the next best thing the Bills could get back is a high 5th round pick. This would give the Bills 3 5th round picks that they could try to package in some way to break into the 4th round by trading with a 3rd team.
After an interesting year for the Eagles in 2020, shifting from Carson Wentz to Jalen Hurts, the future of the quarterback position seems to be in the hands of Hurts. Looking ahead to the 2021 season, the only quarterback on the roster for the Eagles is Jalen Hurts and there is no current insurance plan behind him. This could make Fromm an intriguing trade target for them as he could immediately come to Philadelphia to be the backup behind Hurts.
