4 draft prospects the Buffalo Bills should target to compete for CB2
This next prospect is someone that the Buffalo Bills will be able to get outside of day one in the draft despite being a first round prospect a couple of years ago. Former Stanford cornerback Paulson Adebo opted out of the 2020 season and for that reason his draft stock has taken a bit of a hit.
At about 6’1″ and 190 pounds, Adebo played in 22 games as a two year starter at Stanford. In those two seasons, Adebo was extremely productive with a total of 97 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble, 27 passes defended, and 8 interceptions. Those 27 passes defended in 22 games illustrate Adebo’s superior ball skills. Additionally, Adebo has great length at the cornerback position, similar to Melifonwu, which makes it easier for him to disrupt opposing receivers at the catch point.
Adebo’s length and ball skills make him an excellent candidate to thrive in the Buffalo Bills zone coverage secondary. Not only would Adebo fit the Bills defensive scheme, but the Bills may actually benefit from Adebo opting out of the 2020 season.
As I mentioned before, Adebo’s draft stock took a bit of a hit because he didn’t play football this past year while others at his position did. This doesn’t mean that Adebo got any worse, but there’s game tape on other cornerback prospects getting better. Currently, Adebo is projected as a late day two pick. Considering he was once considered a first round talent, the Bills could get a huge value pick by drafting Adebo in either the second or third round.
