The first cornerback prospect that Bills fans should have on their radar is Greg Newsome II from Northwestern. At 6’1″ and 190 pounds, Newsome was very efficient in just three games played in 2020. He recorded 12 total tackles, 7 passes defended, and had 1 interception. Additionally, Newsome only allowed 12 receptions on the 34 times the receiver he was covering was targeting.

On top of the numbers he put up this past year at Northwestern, Newsome recently recorded a sub 4.4 second 40 yard dash. Although this wasn’t an official NFL Combine 40 yard dash time, the Buffalo Bills have been looking to add a cornerback with this kind of straight line speed. Not to say that Levi Wallace and Tre’Davious White aren’t fast, but they have struggled to stay in phase with deep threats without safety help.

Newsome has the ability to play both zone and man coverage which should help the Bills defense become more multiple on the back end should they decide to draft him. Currently, Newsome is projected as a late day one or early day two pick making it most likely for the Buffalo Bills to select him at 30th overall. However, there’s a solid chance that Newsome is selected before the Bills first round pick with the recent 40 yard dash he posted at Northwestern’s Pro Day.
