Buffalo Bills: 6 2021 NFL Draft prospects to target to replace Daryl Williams

Potential Day Three prospects to target

Without a fourth round pick, the Bills would be very lucky to have either of the next two prospects I’m about to name fall to their first fifth round selection. However, there is always a chance the Buffalo Bills decide to trade out of the first round and end up acquiring a fourth round pick.

The first offensive tackle prospect is former BYU Cougar Brady Christensen, who found himself as the number one ranked offensive tackle in the 2020 season according to PFF grades. At 6’6 and 300 pounds was a three-year starter for the Cougars at left tackle.

Christensen isn’t great in any one area, but instead, he is a very well-rounded prospect that still has some room to grow. What could be most appealing about Christensen’s game is his ability to block for a mobile quarterback. Blocking for Zack Wilson is not easy considering how often he’s running around in the backfield making improvisational plays. Christensen’s ability to sustain blocks in those situations should be appealing to the Bills because Wilson’s improvisational ability is very similar to Josh Allen.

The last potential day three prospect to target is big Spencer Brown from Northern Iowa. At 6’8and just under 300 pounds, Brown stands tall and has length for days. This length makes Brown very difficult to beat, even when an edge rusher thinks they have a step on Brown his length allows him to recover more easily than less lengthy offensive tackles. Additionally, Brown plays with a high level of physicality and tenacity that is always attractive to add to the offensive line.

The knock on Brown is the low level of competition he played against in the FCS. However, Brown did silence that narrative a little bit with a sound week against solid competition at the Reese’s Senior Bowl. Unfortunately, his unique length may interest a lot of teams and Brown could actually be gone by the fifth round. Brown may ultimately be more intriguing as a developmental prospect rather than a guy that can come right in and compete for the starting right tackle gig.

If we target either of these two guys, it is likely as a supplemental backup to someone we acquire in free agency like a Zach Banner.
