William Jackson III

Another position of need this offseason is the cornerback position. The team has tried to patch together the second cornerback position with a combination of Levi Wallace and a veteran, most recently Josh Norman, and has gotten mixed results so far.

This offseason they could look to find a younger player that could be a long term solution and that player could be William Jackson III. The former Bengals cornerback was a first round pick in 2016 and has started 43 games over the past three seasons.

The concern is that William Jackson III probably gets a big contract from whoever signs him but he hasn’t really played like a top corner. He also hasn’t generated much in terms of turnovers with only three interceptions with no fumbles forced or recovered in four seasons.

A case could be made that the lack of production was from him playing on a bad Bengals defense for most of his career and putting him on the Buffalo Bills could be the answer to unlock that potential. However, it is a costly gamble to offer a big free agent contract with a player who has yet to play at that top level.
