The Buffalo Bills, fortunately, have no question about who their starting quarterback is after the year Josh Allen put together. He finished as the runner up in MVP voting and led the Bills to their first trip to the AFC Championship Game since the 1990s.

However, there is some uncertainty farther down the depth chart after Josh Allen. The backup quarterback position is one that is often overlooked until there is a need for the player to step into the starting lineup.

For a team that has its focus on making it to the Super Bowl, it is important to have a good backup quarterback. If the Buffalo Bills were to lose Josh Allen for a few games, having a player who can keep this team at least competitive until Allen could return can have a significant impact on the team’s success.

A good backup quarterback can be the difference between being a top seed or a wild card (or even making the playoffs). The Buffalo Bills have had Matt Barkley as their backup since 2018 but with Barkley now a free agent, the front office may consider bringing in a different quarterback to backup Josh Allen.

If that is the case, these are three quarterbacks they could target in free agency.
