The tight end position is one that Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane specifically talked about at the end of the team’s season. He talked about the lack of production the team got from the tight end position and how opposing defenses didn’t have to gameplan much for Dawson Knox or Tyler Kroft.

"At the end of the day we’d love to have a guy like we just faced in Kansas City but they don’t come very often but that’s what you want. We got some guys here we want to continue to develop and see what happens. Obviously if there are ways to add competition whether it’s free agency or the draft you know we would do that as well."

Beane during his press conference did mention that he still wants to give players like Dawson Knox, and potentially Tommy Sweeney if he is able to return, a chance to continue to develop but wants to add some competition.

While there isn’t a Travis Kelce type player available in free agency, there are some that could provide an immediate upgrade at the position. Another tight end could also give Brian Daboll a little more flexibility and call more two tight end set plays this coming season with Knox and one of these free agent tight ends.
