Josh Allen

There is no player that is more important to the Buffalo Bills than quarterback Josh Allen. The Bills drafted Allen in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft and has steadily improved each year, including a breakout season this year. He finished with over 4,500 passing yards, 46 total touchdowns and was the runner-up in MVP voting.

The challenge for the Buffalo Bills is that quarterbacks have some of the biggest contracts in the NFL and Josh Allen could end up being one of the highest-paid players in the NFL. Brandon Beane acknowledged that at the end of January and said the two sides might need to get creative to get a deal done.

The good news for the Buffalo Bills is that they don’t necessarily have to get a deal done this offseason as they will still have the fifth-year option, which is a guarantee the Bills would pick up and keep him in Buffalo through the 2022 season.

However, a long term deal could be better for the Bills as contracts for quarterbacks continue to grow rapidly in recent years. This should be one of the team’s top priorities this offseason.
