Arguably one of the best defensive ends in the NFL is now a free agent after the Houston Texans reportedly released J.J. Watt on Friday. This is a position that the Buffalo Bills likely will try to upgrade this offseason but the question is does Watt make sense for this defense?

Last season, the Bills finished 15th in the NFL in sacks with 38. However, of those 38 sacks only 13.5 came from defensive ends with Mario Addison tied for the team lead in the regular season with five.

This is one of the reasons the Buffalo Bills will want to address this position. The ability to get pressure with a defense’s front four, versus needing blitzing, can go a long way in getting this group back to their 2019 form.

Considering the Buffalo Bills have a need at the position, let’s make a case for and against signing free agent J.J. Watt this offseason.
