The Buffalo Bills came within one game of the Super Bowl this past season, falling to the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 38-24 in the AFC Championship Game.

There is no question that the focus this offseason for the franchise is on what they need to do to make it to the Super Bowl next year. Well, Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com recently provided his thoughts on what the Bills need to do.

"Now it’s time to clean up the defensively oriented McDermott’s side of the ball. There isn’t a pass rusher to be excited about. The secondary is missing at least one cornerback, and linebacker Matt Milano is about to be a free agent."

Rosenthal notes that the Bills were able to help Josh Allen, which he noted last year. The big move the team made was adding Stefon Diggs but he wasn’t the only addition as the Bills added other playmakers like Zack Moss and Gabriel Davis.

This year the Bills need to focus on the defense but more importantly, find some playmakers at every level. As the NFL writer notes there really isn’t that one dominant force at any level.

However, the Bills may not need to get free agents for each level but rather if players can take that next step in their careers, they could fill that role. On the defensive line, the Bills do have some young players like Ed Oliver or A.J. Epenesa who with some development could be that dominant pass rusher.

For the secondary, the Bills need Tre’Davious White to return to being the lock down corner that he showed he could be in 2019. If he returns to that form, the Bills secondary could get a complimentary corner that solidifies the position.

The biggest question mark is then at linebacker, especially with Matt Milano potentially leaving. The defense certainly did not play nearly at the same level when Milano missed time due to injuries. The reason is because of how versatile he is in terms of dropping back in coverage to rushing the quarterback.

The Buffalo Bills could address this need in the NFL Draft but it will be important to find a player that has a physical profile to Milano.
