Buffalo Bills add offensive line depth by re-signing Jordan Devey
The offensive line should be a focus for the Buffalo Bills this offseason and on Monday made a move to help with the depth by re-signing Jordan Devey. The Bills added the offensive lineman at the start of the season to their practice squad and he appeared in one regular season game back in Week 7 against the New York Jets.
Prior to joining the Bills, Devey played for five teams starting with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013. He joined the Ravens as an undrafted free agent and had stops with the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Oakland Raiders.
The 32 year old has 44 career games with 21 starts, including nine starts in 2015 with the 49ers. He started four games in 2019 with the Raiders.
This is a smart move as the Buffalo Bills could benefit from have experienced offensive linemen, who has played both guard and center, on their roster entering an offseason with a number of questions at this part of the offense.
The Bills enter the offseason with two starters, Jon Feliciano and Daryl Williams, as free agents. The team also has reserves Ty Nsekhe and Brian Winters as unrestricted free agents this offseason as well. In addition, Mitch Morse could be a potential cut candidate due to the cap savings and the fact that the Buffalo Bills are limited in cap space this year.
The Buffalo Bills also have the question around Cody Ford. The former second round pick is returning from a torn meniscus injury suffered during the season. While he should be ready for the start of the season, he isn’t necessarily guaranteed a starting spot after struggling this past season before his injury.
While he won’t likely be competing for a starting job, an experienced veteran like Jordan Devey is a good thing for the Buffalo Bills to have on the offensive line.
