Christian Wade

Even though he has yet to play a regular season snap, there are a number of fans excited to see Christian Wade play in an NFL game. The biggest reason is that in his first season with the Bills, back in 2019, he made big plays in the preseason including a 65-yard touchdown run on his first carry.

Wade joined the NFL and the Buffalo Bills as part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway program which essentially gave the Bills two years of a roster exemption to allow him to develop and learn the game. That exemption is now gone and if Wade is to remain with the Buffalo Bills it will be on the active roster or on the practice squad.

The reason I believe he has a good chance to make the active roster is the only people who have had a chance to see Christian Wade play recently is the coaching staff. Since the preseason was canceled due to the pandemic before the 2020 season, the coaching staff has a good idea of how he has developed over the past two years.

The fact that the team signed him to a reserve/future contract is a good sign they have liked his development to this point. This development combined with the running back position being underwhelming this season could help Christian Wade finally get a chance to play for the Buffalo Bills in a regular season game in 2021.
