Tyrann Mathieu

On the defensive side of the ball, one of their top stars is safety Tyrann Mathieu. He joined the Chiefs last year and has been a difference-maker over the past two seasons with this team. He finished the regular season with 62 total tackles, nine passes defended, and six interceptions.

This past week against the Browns, Mathieu made one of the big plays of the game with an interception of Baker Mayfield on the opening drive of the second half.

One of the reasons he is so important is his versatility because while he is a safety, he also can come closer to the line of scrimmage and line as a nickel corner. As Pro Football Focus notes, Mathieu has the lowest passer rating allowed over the past two years at only 68.4.

This is important because the Buffalo Bills have one of the better slot receivers in Cole Beasley and the Chiefs will likely line Mathieu up regularly across from Beasley.
