At this point in the season, most players have settled into their role on this team and know what will be expected from them on a weekly basis. For the Buffalo Bills, rookies this is no different. They got the same amount of playing time as most weeks but some rookies struggled against the Baltimore Ravens.

This is a recap of how each rookie that played for the Buffalo Bills did against the Baltimore Ravens.

A.J. Epenesa

After seeing his snaps cut against the Indianapolis Colts due to the coaching staff leaning on Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison more, A.J. Epenesa returned to playing about a third of the defensive snaps against the Ravens.

He finished this week playing 37% of the defensive snaps and had one total tackle. However, that one tackle was rather remarkable and showed just how much the rookie defensive end has changed this year. The play was a designed run away from Epenesa but he was able to run all the way across the line of scrimmage to wrap up the running back for little gain.

Gabriel Davis

Gabriel Davis has had an excellent rookie season and should be a starter in this offense in the next year or two. However, this is a game he would like to forget as he made some key mistakes.

Davis finished the game with no receptions on four targets and played 46% of the snaps. One of those targets came in the end zone as the ball looked like it bounced off the rookie’s hands and should have been caught.

It also appeared on that play that Davis suffered an ankle injury. He left the game briefly but did return however, it appeared that impacted what he was able to do for the rest of the game.

Tyler Bass

This was Tyler Bass’ worst game in over two months as he would make his first attempt from 28 yards out before missing a 43 and 44-yard field goal attempt. He would however make both of his extra point attempts.

The misses shouldn’t be too much cause for concern as in the same game Ravens’ kicker Justin Tucker, who is one of the most accurate kickers to ever play the game, also missed two of his three field goal attempts. The wind in this game certainly played a role for both of these kickers and they struggled to account for it.

Reggie Gilliam

Reggie Gilliam once again saw a majority of playing time on special teams and played 67% of the special teams snaps. However, he also saw a bump in offensive snaps this week by playing nine, which is the most since he played 10 in Week 15 against the Denver Broncos.
