Jerry Hughes

Jerry Hughes is starting to make a reputation for himself of being a playoff star. Last year, in the Bills Wild Card loss to the Houston Texans, Hughes had three sacks. Then in the game against the Ravens on Saturday night, Hughes had his second career multi-sack playoff game with two.

The Buffalo Bills defensive line had a tough task going up against Lamar Jackson. The way he is able to make plays with his legs and his quickness creates a challenge for defensive ends. The reason is that they have to get after the quarterback with controlled aggression.

The Bills needed their defensive ends to put pressure on Lamar Jackson but do some in a disciplined manner that they didn’t overpurse, which would give the Ravens’ quarterback an opportunity to escape the pocket and make a big play.

This was something Jerry Hughes did very well and the way he was able to keep Lamar Jackson in front of him was why he was able to get those two sacks.
