The Buffalo Bills’ reserve defensive end missed his second straight practice.

The Buffalo Bills were back on the practice field this week for their second practice ahead of Saturday night’s game with Baltimore Ravens. This is without question the biggest game for this franchise in over two decades and it appears they should have almost their entire roster available.

The player who looks to be most in jeopardy of missing this week’s game is defensive end Darryl Johnson. He was a seventh round pick by the Bills last year and has been primarily a situational pass rusher over the past two years.

However, in the final three weeks of the regular season Johnson’s playing time increased to about 40% of the defensive snaps in each game. This past week against the Colts though the coaching staff leaned more on the veteran defensive ends, Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison, and Johnson saw his playing time cut to only 19% of the defensive snaps.

If Johnson was to miss this week, this likely means the Buffalo Bills will have Trent Murphy active for this week’s game. He has been a healthy scratch for most of the games since the bye week with his only playing time coming in Week 17 against the Miami Dolphins.

The good news for the Bills is that some of the key players who were limited yesterday, like Cole Beasley, Stefon Diggs, Tremaine Edmunds, and Ed Oliver, didn’t take a step backwards. They remained limited for the second straight day.

While it would be good to see them get in a full practice tomorrow, it isn’t a requirement for them to play this weekend. Last week, Cole Beasley did not practice the first two days of the week and was limited on the final practice before the game against the Indianapolis Colts.
