Tre’Davious White vs. T.Y. Hilton

In the first half of the Buffalo Bills’ 2020 Wild Card matchup against the Houston Texans Tre’Davious White held DeAndre Hopkins without a catch. The Bills ultimately surrendered six catches and 90 yards to Hopkins in the second half but only gave up one passing touchdown to Deshaun Watson. There hasn’t been a receiver in the 2020 regular season who has consistently torched White over the course of a game.

T.Y. Hilton has had a down year to his standards. For the fifth time in his nine-year career, the speedster out of Florida International did not surpass the 1,000 yard mark. And on top of a sub-1,000 yard season, Hilton only managed to score five touchdowns. Not exactly the production one would expect from a deep threat.

The Bills defense has not allowed receivers to get behind them. They rank eighth in the league in defensive plays of 20 or more yards with 44 through 16 games. No matter who matches up across from Hilton, he’ll have a tough time stretching the field on this Bills defense.

White has the ability to blanket receivers and eliminate pass-catchers from teams’ gameplans. If White can continue his Pro Bowl season by shutting the Colts leader in targets, Hilton won’t be a factor on Wild Card weekend.
