This is where the Buffalo Bills offense and defense rank at the end of the regular season.

The Buffalo Bills entered this season with questions about how this offense might look with the addition of Stefon Diggs and if Josh Allen could take that next step. Those questions were answered as the Bills finished the season with one of the best offenses in the NFL.

Meanwhile, it was the defense that took a step backward this season. They struggled in the first half but finished the year very strong. This is a recap of where the Bills finished the year in the NFL in key stats.

Buffalo Bills Offense

Total Yards: 396.4 yards per game (T-2nd)

Passing Yards: 288.8 yards per game (3rd)

Rushing Yards: 107.7 yards per game (20th)

Points Scored: 31.3 points per game (2nd)

The Buffalo Bills offense, specifically the passing game, was one of the best in the NFL. The Bills finished in the Top 3 in three of those four categories, which is remarkable considering where they were even a year ago.

The improvements Josh Allen made this year are rarely seen in the league as he jumped another 10 percentage points in completion percentage, all the way up to 69.2%. The addition of Stefon Diggs certainly played a role as well as Diggs finished the year leading the league in receptions (127) and receiving yards (1,535).

Buffalo Bills Defense

Yards Allowed: 352.5 yards per game (14th)

Passing Yards Allowed: 232.9 yards per game (13th)

Rushing Yards Allowed: 119.6 yards per game (17th)

Points Allowed: 23.4 points per game (16th)

This season the Bills defense was expected to pick up right where they left off last season as a Top 10 group due to the fact that they were bringing back most of their starters. That wasn’t the case and the Bills found themselves in shootouts earlier in the year.

However, this group made drastic improvements over the course of the season and were playing much better as of late. In the first 10 weeks of the season, the Bills were allowing teams to score on average 26.3 points per game but in the last six that total has dropped to 18.3 points per game.

They also have been forcing turnovers more frequently with 10 turnovers in the last six games compared to 16 in the first 10 games of the year.
