Buffalo Bills to play Indianapolis Colts in Wild Card round
The Buffalo Bills now know who they will be facing in the first round of the playoffs.
The Buffalo Bills entered Week 17 not sure if they would be the two or three seed in the AFC playoffs and which team they would be playing. There were potentially five different teams they could have faced in next weekend’s Wild Card round.
The Bills were able to control their own destiny with what seed they would be and were able to earn the two seed after they ran away from the Miami Dolphins 56-26 in the early slate of the game.
They also know who they will be playing as they are set to face the Indianapolis Colts, who made it into the playoffs as the seven seed. They were facing the Jacksonville Jaguars, who they beat 28-14.
However, the Colts’ place in the playoffs was also impacted by what the Tennessee Titans did since if the Titans lost, the Colts would move all the way up to the four seed since they would have won the AFC South.
The Titans appeared set to go to overtime with the Texans after a field goal tied it up in the final minutes. However, a 52-yard reception by A.J. Brown set the Titans up to score the go-ahead field goal as time expired to win 38-35.
This weekend’s matchup will be between two former AFC East rivals as the Colts were part of the division until the NFL went to four divisions in each conference. The Bills will also be facing off against Frank Reich, who is the head coach of the Colts but was a backup quarterback for the Bills during their Super Bowl run in the early 1990s.
The last time the two teams faced each other was in 2018 when the Colts won 37-5 over the Buffalo Bills.
