The Buffalo Bills blowout the New England Patriots by a final score of 38-9.
The Buffalo Bills were back on primetime, their third game in four weeks, and once again came away with a blowout win. This time it was against the New England Patriots as the Bills won 38-9 in Week 16.
The last time these two teams met, it came down to the final drive as the Bills forced a fumble on Cam Newton that sealed a 24-21 victory. This week was a different story as the game wasn’t close in the final three quarters.
The New England Patriots started the scoring with a field goal on their opening drive and the Buffalo Bills were able to answer with their own to tie it up at three. It was their next offensive drive that was seemingly the turning point of the game.
It appeared the Patriots had forced a three and out but the Bills called a fake punt where Jaquan Johnson threw a pass to Siran Neal to keep the drive alive. The Bills would drive down the field, score the first touchdown of the game and go on to outscore the Patriots 35-6 the remainder of the way.
This was another impressive performance by quarterback Josh Allen and bounced back from the first time these two teams met. Earlier this year, the Patriots held Allen to under 160 passing yards and forced an interception. This week though, Bill Belichick didn’t have an answer for the Bills quarterback as he threw for 320 passing yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions in a little over three quarters of action.
While 10 players caught passes against the Patriots, it was Stefon Diggs that did a majority of the work, catching nine passes for 145 yards and a season-high three touchdowns.
The Buffalo Bills move to 12-3 on the season and can secure the two seed in the playoffs with a win over the Miami Dolphins in the regular season finale at Bills Stadium.
