Buffalo Bills: Breaking down the snap counts from Week 15
These are some key notes from the snap counts in Week 15 for the Buffalo Bills.
This week, the Buffalo Bills were in control for most of the game and build a big lead midway through the third quarter. The fact that this game was essentially decided so early allowed the coaching staff to rotate some players into the game and at the same time give some starters a rest.
This is a breakdown of some of the snap counts on the offensive and defensive side of the ball for the Buffalo Bills against the Denver Broncos.
Buffalo Bills Offense
The most important note along the offensive line this week was that Daryl Williams played only 60% of the offensive snaps in Week 15. He left the game due to a groin injury and was replaced by Ty Nsekhe. If this is an injury that forces Williams to miss games in the coming weeks, the veteran will step into the starting line up.
For the third straight game Tyler Kroft was a healthy scratch, and while Dawson Knox has seen an increase in playing time, so has Lee Smith. The veteran tight end is more of a blocking specialist and in the past three games has been on the field for at least 34% of the offensive snaps, which is a number he didn’t surpass in any game prior to Week 13.
The running back rotation is something to continue to take note of as outside of the San Francisco 49ers game, Zack Moss has been receiving about 60% of the snaps while Singletary has gotten roughly the other 40%. This week though Singletary ended up with five more snaps than Moss however Moss still finished with more carries with 13 to Singletary’s eight.
Buffalo Bills Defense
Outside of Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde, the Buffalo Bills didn’t have any defensive starter play more than 80% of the defensive snaps. They actually had 21 players play at least 20% of the defensive snaps this week against the Broncos.
One player who hasn’t seen his snaps increase too much has been Matt Milano, who was in his third game since returning from injured reserve. The starting linebacker played only 39% of the defensive snaps, after playing only 41% last week, and the coaching staff appears set on splitting the playing time between Milano and A.J. Klein, who played 56% of the defensive snaps.
