No lights too bright

Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh was as close to a playoff football game Buffalo has played all season.

This came at a perfect time for Buffalo as their matchup against Pittsburgh proved just how difficult it can be to win in the postseason. Though the Buffalo Bills ended up turning it on in the second half, the opening half of the football game proved that it could go either way.

With both offensive units struggling in the opening minutes due to the great play of both defensive units, adjustments needed to be made at the half.

The adjustments that the Bills coaching staff made are the exact reasons as to why the Bills have a very real shot at a deep playoff run. Choosing to put the run on the backburner and attack the dedicated Steelers linebackers, Sean McDermott and Brian Daboll decided to exploit the position the Steelers are best known for.

After the pass had been established, Daboll went back to the ground with Moss, who was a battering ram running into the Steelers defensive line. With Mike Tomlin bringing extra pressure in certain situations, Daboll and Allen then executed routes that allowed Diggs to find either one-on-one coverage or soft spots in the zone. In doing this, Diggs was able to have the game he did, recording 130 yards and a touchdown.

Speaking of Josh Allen, what is there to say that has not already been said about the 24-year old. Throwing for 238 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the arguably best defense in the league, once he was on, Allen made it look easy. Along the way to the team’s win, Allen passed Hall of Famer, Jim Kelly’s record of 34 total touchdowns with 35 on the season now, proving yet again that he is built for these types of games.
