Buffalo Bills: Matt Milano, Tyrel Dodson designated to return to practice
The Buffalo Bills announced on Wednesday that two players were designated to return to practice.
The Buffalo Bills defense has been playing better recently and more help could be on the way. On Wednesday, the team announced that linebackers Matt Milano and Tyrel Dodson were designated to return to pracitce.
The big news is clearly Matt Milano, who was placed on injured reserve due to a pec injury suffered in Week 4 against the Las Vegas Raiders. He was placed on injured reserve prior to the Bills matchup in Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks. He was set to miss a minimum of three games and was eligible to return Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers.
This season was supposed to be a big season for Milano as he entered a contract year but has been riddled with injuries. He suffered a hamstring injury in Week 1 that forced him to miss one game. He returned in Week 3 before the pec injury against the Raiders.
He would go on to sit out two games before returning in Week 7 against the New York Jets and tried to play through the injury. Milano would be active for two games but played roughly only a third of the defensive snaps and after not being at 100% the team placed him on injured reserve.
Hopefully, now that he is designated to return it means that Milano is fully recovered and return to being a full-time starter.
The Bills also get some depth help at linebacker with Tyrel Dodson also designated to return. He replaced Milano in Week 2 and played well but would go to suffer a hamstring injury against the Kansas City Chiefs a few weeks later.
The Buffalo Bills now have 21 days to move these players from injured reserve to the active roster. However, the fact that they have designated to return this week means they are close to returning and could play on Monday night against the 49ers.
The Buffalo Bills also announced they have signed wide receiver Jake Kumerow to the active roster. He has primarily been a special teams contributor and played over 47% of the special teams’ snaps in each of the last three games.
