The Buffalo Bills win 27-17 over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 12.

For the second straight year, the Buffalo Bills move to 8-3 on the season with a 27-17 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. The Bills jumped out to an early lead with a touchdown on their opening drive and would go on to lead the remainder of the game.

However, the Chargers never went away and the Bills built a 24-6 lead in the third quarter that the Chargers chipped away at. They ended up kicking a field goal in the fourth that made the score 24-17. The teams would go on to trade turnovers before the Bills drove down the field to push the lead out to 27-17, which ended up being the final score.

Buffalo Bills Offense

This game was expected to be a high-scoring matchup as both teams have good offenses but their defense has struggled. However, this was not the case for the Buffalo Bills as they finished with only 332 total yards and had 27 points.

The good news though was that the run game finally came alive, which is something the coaching staff mentioned they wanted to work on coming out of the bye week. They certainly did that as the two running backs, Devin Singletary and Zack Moss, combined for 141 total rushing yards. The biggest positive was they finally broke some big runs as Singletary had a run of 24 yards while Moss had one for 31 yards.

Buffalo Bills Defense

The Buffalo Bills defense once again had a good week against a good offense. The Chargers with Justin Herbert under center have been near the top of the league in terms of passing yards and while Herbert did throw for 316 yards, he only had one touchdown and the Bills did pick him off once.

One of the reasons for their success has been the Bills’ ability to get pressure on the opposing quarterbacks. This week the defense finished with three sacks and eight QB hits.

Key Moment of the Game

The Buffalo Bills led the whole way but after building a 24-6 lead early in the third quarter, the Bills let the Chargers hang around almost the entire second half. The Chargers were able to cut the lead down to 24-17 and were driving after a Josh Allen interception.

However, Tre’Davious White came up with a big interception after peeling away from his man and undercutting a pass by Justin Herbert. The Bills offense, after struggling most of the second half, leaned on the run game to extend their lead and essentially put the game away.

Player of the Game

A.J. Klein

After a slow start to the year, A.J. Klein has been one of the best players on this Buffalo Bills defense recently. This week, Klein led the defense in total tackles with 14, three tackles for a loss, one pass defended, and 1.5 sacks.

The Chargers have one of the best offenses in the NFL and this week got their best playmaker, Austin Ekeler back. However, the defense did a good job of bending but not breaking and keeping him out of the end zone. The Buffalo Bills linebacker was a big part of that.
