The Buffalo Bills announced Friday that Cody Ford is out for the season.
The Buffalo Bills have been dealing with injuries along their offensive line almost the entire season. The hope was that coming out of the bye they would have everyone available and could put together their best starting five.
However, that isn’t going to be the case as the team announced on Friday that starting guard Cody Ford is out for the season.
Sean McDermott provided a little more detail and Sal Capaccio tweeted that he suffered the injury during Wednesday’s practice. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said the injury is a torn meniscus, which has a timeline of three to four months of rehab.
Cody Ford was a second round pick by the Buffalo Bills last year and stepped into the starting lineup almost immediately as a rookie. He would rotate with Ty Nsekhe at right tackle before taking the job over full time at the end of the year.
This season though, the coaching staff moved him inside to guard, where he started on the right side before moving to left guard. While he did a good job at tackle, moving inside to guard is probably the better fit for Cody Ford based on his skill set.
He would start seven games this year but dealt with a number of injuries. The most recent was an ankle injury suffered against the Seattle Seahawks that forced him to miss the game against the Arizona Cardinals.
He appeared set to return this week before suffering the knee injury during practice.
This injury news now forces the coaching staff to once again try to figure out what the best starting offensive will be for this team moving forward. Sean McDermott did announce that Mitch Morse is going to be the starting center so the likely scenario is that Jon Feliciano moves back to guard in place of Ford.
