Trent Murphy

Prior to the start of the season, defensive Trent Murphy seemed like the ideal cut candidate for the Buffalo Bills. The team signed Murphy as a free agent prior to the 2018 season but hasn’t been really productive and the team would have saved over $8 million in cap space if they cut him.

Instead, they elected to keep Murphy on the roster but it once again has been an underwhelming season from the pass rusher. He has played about 44% of the defensive snaps and has 17 total tackles and two sacks.

The Buffalo Bills will have to address the position this offseason as Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison likely don’t have many seasons left. They did draft A.J. Epenesa this past year but he has also struggled this year as a rookie.

This will once again likely be a priority position for the front office but a return of Trent Murphy is likely not part of the equation.
