These are five players the Buffalo Bills should not re-sign this offseason.

While there are still six games left in the regular season, the Buffalo Bills front office has probably already started to look to the offseason and evaluate the roster. The front office is likely looking at all the potential players who will be free agents this offseason but first they need to address who they want to bring back, and subsequently who they don’t want to.

The Buffalo Bills this offseason are going to have a number of free agents this offseason but fortunately don’t have many players who are starters, or there aren’t players on the roster who could replace them.

These are five players that are in the final year of their contract and the Buffalo Bills should not re-sign this offseason.

Matt Barkley

The Buffalo Bills signed Matt Barkley midway through the 2018 season as they dealt with a number of injuries at the position. They saw Josh Allen miss extended playing time and his replacement, Derek Anderson, also was hurt during this stretch.

The team signed Barkley and he stepped into the starting lineup and had a great game considering the circumstances by throwing for 232 passing yards and two touchdowns. That game appeared to be enough to earn a two-year contract extension.

However, since that game the times Barkley has had to come onto the field, the performance has been average. In three games, Barkley has thrown for 381 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions.

The fact the Bills went out and drafted Jake Fromm in the fifth round last year was an indication the team may be looking to make a switch. Now that Fromm will have a year with the team should be enough to earn him the backup job from Matt Barkley.
