Interior Offensive Line

Left Guard: Cody Ford

Center: Mitch Morse

Right Guard: Jon Feliciano

This is where the coaching staff is going to have the most challenges, and likely why McDermott said ‘we’ll see’ when asked about Morse, to determine the starters at these three positions. The reason is it is a challenge is they have five players who could make a good case to be a starter along with one player who could line up at any three.

Due to the injuries, like Feliciano’s prior to the year, Ford’s and Morse’s at different points, it has created playing time for Brian Winters and Ike Boettger. While both have played well, the group that has the most potential to be great is Ford, Morse, and Feliciano.

This week, the coaching staff will first need to determine who they want at center because that decision is going to impact who the two starting guards are. The reason being is if the team elects to bench Morse than Feliciano is going to be the answer at center.

If Feliciano gets the start, the team would likely move Cody Ford back to right guard, where he started the season, and keep Boettger at left guard. While he doesn’t have a lot of playing time, he has played well recently and likely has earned more snaps.

In the end, the coaching staff will likely end up going with the ideal starting offensive line they envisioned during the offseason which was Dawkins, Ford, Morse, Feliciano, and Williams. This is the most talented starting five and if everyone stays healthy could be a big boost for this offense down the stretch.
