Buffalo Bills getting pressure on quarterbacks

It shouldn’t be a coincidence that the improvements in the secondary correlates with the Buffalo Bills starting to get more pressure on opposing quarterbacks. The Bills defense now has 27 sacks on the season, which is the sixth-highest total in the NFL.

However, a majority of those sacks have come in just the past four games with the Bills registering 16 during that stretch. In the first six games of the season, the Bills only had nine.

One of the reasons for the increase is the coaching staff is starting to utilize more blitzes and bringing pressure from every level of the defense. In the game against the Cardinals, where the Bills had three sacks, linebacker A.J. Klein and cornerback Taron Johnson had one sack each.

For the season, linebackers and defensive backs have accounted for 10 of the 27 sacks the Buffalo Bills. The coaching staff has done this without arguably their best pass rushing linebacker, Matt Milano. When he returns from the injured reserve, this gameplan should only become more effective.
