Neutralize the Cardinals Pass Catchers

Similar to the Buffalo Bills, the Arizona Cardinals also traded for a top tier pass catcher this offseason, theirs being DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins is currently tied for third in receptions, eighth in targets, and fifth in receiving yards. Through the first half of the season, Murray was relying on Hopkins as a safety net to bail him out on plenty of tough third downs and other pressure situations.

As the season has progressed, Murray has begun to get the other Cardinals receivers involved more. Arizona is still the home to future Hall of Fame wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and in their last four games, Fitzgerald has been getting more involved, falling short of 5 targets in a game only once. Additionally, head coach Kliff Kingsbury and Murray have gotten fellow former Texas A&M Aggie Christian Kirk much more involved in the offense.

Early in the season, Kirk was battling some minor injuries but wasn’t overly involved in the offense. In the Cardinals, last three games, Kirk has been targeted 19 times making 12 receptions for 5 receiving touchdowns on plenty of plays designed specifically for him to be open.

If the Bills want to find success on the defensive side of the ball, they will have to be sound in coverage. The Cardinals are very deep in the pass-catching department and have been comfortable operating with 4 receivers on offense. This will force the Bills to prove their depth at the cornerback position in Week 10, especially with three key players (Levi Wallace, Josh Norman, Dean Marlowe) out for this game after being placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
