One bright spot of the struggling Buffalo defense has been the play of their two star safeties, Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer.

The two have been stand out players on the Bills for some time now. Providing aid in pass protection, run protection and everything in between.  Though they have had their struggles picking up plays that have been completed due to the lackluster play from the cornerback position, they have been fairly reliable.

Much like the cornerbacks, Hyde and Poyer are taking on two elite WR talents in Metcalf and Hopkins coming up. Both receivers have the speed to take the top off of the defense, get into the second level of the secondary and create big plays.

It will be up to the two of them to ensure that this does not happen. With Chris Carson out against the Seahawks, and Arizona’s Kenyan Drake likely out next week, run protection will be less of a priority so they will be allowed to play deeper.
