Question 2: It appears that Jamal Adams is going to be back this week. Is he going to be enough to turn around a secondary that is giving up the most passing yards per game in the NFL?
The answer to this question gets a bit complicated. Seattle does give up a ton of passing yards but the problem isn’t solely on the secondary. The Seahawks just haven’t gotten consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks so the quarterback can just stand back and pick up yards over the middle and drive down the field.
Another issue is that Adams isn’t the only key part of the secondary to be hurt this year. Shaquill Griffin has missed some time as has Quinton Dunbar. One big reason teams are getting so many yards passing is that Seattle has had early leads in most games so other teams have to throw to catch up. But getting Adams back should help in several ways, including coverage and pressure on the quarterback. Plus, he’s played against Buffalo a bunch so that should help too.
Question 3: One thing people like to talk about is west coast teams traveling east. How do the Seattle Seahawks do playing on the east coast, especially in the 1 PM time slot?
Seattle used to struggle on the east coast with 10 am PT starts. But they also used to play so few of those games that it was hard to get a gauge on just how good or bad Seattle was at 1 pm ET starts. But in the last two seasons, Seattle is 6-0 at 1 pm ET starts.
Some of this has to do with the level of competition but a lot of it has to do with Seattle having Russell Wilson and simply being a good team overall. Buffalo, though, might be different. The Bills are probably the best east coast team Seattle has played in the last two years. At least it appears that the Seahawks are going to get a break with the weather as the forecast shows clear skies and relatively warm temperatures.
