These are four single-season franchise records that could be broken for the Buffalo Bills.

The Buffalo Bills offense is off to a historic start to the year due in large part to quarterback Josh Allen and wide receiver Stefon Diggs. They have played so well that if they continue this level of play, they could end up holding single-season records in four categories in the Buffalo Bills’ franchise history.

While there is still plenty of football left to be played, this is where Josh Allen currently stands and what they are on pace to do at the midway point of the 2020 season.

Passing Yards

Current Record: 4,359 yards (Drew Bledsoe, 2002)

Josh Allen 2020 Total: 2,172 yards

Josh Allen 2020 Projected Total: 4,344 yards

The record for most passing yards in franchise history was set by Drew Bledsoe in 2002 when he threw for 4,359 yards. That was his first season with the Buffalo Bills and ended with a trip to the Pro Bowl.

As for Josh Allen, he started the year off very well with three straight games over 300 passing yards however those totals have dropped over the past four games, with only one game over 300 passing yards and two games under 200 passing yards.

If he hopes to break the Buffalo Bills record for passing yards he will need to average at least 274 passing yards per game over the final eight games.

Passing Touchdowns

Current Record: 33 touchdowns (Jim Kelly, 1991)

Josh Allen 2020 Total: 16 touchdowns

Josh Allen 2020 Projected Total: 32 touchdowns

Another record that is within reach of Josh Allen is passing yards within a season. That record currently stands at 33 touchdowns, which Jim Kelly set in 1991 and he did this in 15 games that season.

As for Josh Allen, similar to passing yards, he started the year with 12 touchdowns in the first four games but has only four touchdown passes the past four games. This puts him on pace to finish the year with 32 touchdowns.

Receptions

Current Record: 100 receptions (Eric Moulds, 2002)

Stefon Diggs 2020 Total: 54 receptions

Stefon Diggs 2020 Projected Total: 108 receptions

While Josh Allen has seen his numbers dip slightly over the past month, that has not been the case for Stefon Diggs. In his first season, Diggs is on pace to break two single season records for the Buffalo Bills.

The first is receptions, which is 100 receptions set by Eric Moulds in 2002 as he was a key part of that high powered passing attack. Surprisingly, with a franchise that has had players like Adre Reed and Eric Moulds, they have had only one season where a receiver has had 100 receptions. Stefon Diggs is on pace to be the second receiver to surpass that mark.

Receiving Yards

Current Record: 1,368 (Eric Moulds, 1998)

Stefon Diggs 2020 Total: 695 receiving yards

Stefon Diggs 2020 Projected Total: 1,390 receiving yards

The 1998 season was a breakout year for Eric Moulds as he surpassed Andre Reed as the team’s top wide receiver in an offense that was led by Doug Flutie. After two seasons with less than 300 yards each season, he would go on to finish with 1,368 receiving yards.

Next. 3 players the Bills they regret trading away. dark

As for Stefon Diggs, he is on pace to break that record by only 22 yards if he keeps the same pace he is on now.
