This is a recap of some recent power rankings for the Buffalo Bills.

After losing two straight games, the Buffalo Bills have responded with two straight wins. This time the wins came within the division with a win over the New York Jets in Week 7 and New England Patriots in Week 8.

The Bills didn’t get much boost after the Jets in power rankings. Did the win over the Patriots help them? Let’s take a look at some power rankings.

ESPN: Buffalo Bills move up one spot

Last Week: 8

After remaining at eight last week, the Buffalo Bills were able to move up one spot to seventh overall in ESPN’s power rankings. Marcel Louis-Jacques answered the question this week of what is one reason for optimism.

"Reason for optimism: Improved offenseEven though the Bills have recently cooled off following their hot start to the season, Buffalo’s 2020 offense is drastically improved from the 2019 version, which finished 24th in the NFL in yards per game and 23rd in points per game."

There is no question that offense has been the brightest spot for the Buffalo Bills this year. The team ranked near the bottom of the league last season like Louis-Jacques but this year is in the top half of the league in most passing and scoring stats.

The improvement of Josh Allen has been a big part but offensive coordinator Brian Daboll also deserves a lot of credit with the play calling and the scheme shift.

NFL.com: Buffalo Bills stay at eight

Last Week: 8

Dan Hanzus kept the Buffalo Bills at eighth overall and noted the improved rushing attack.

"Josh Allen and the passing game struggled to get going in blustery conditions, but Devin Singletary and Zack Moss combined for 167 yards on 28 carries, with two Moss scores. That’s back-to-back season-high rushing performances for the Bills, who entered Sunday 29th in the league in rushing."

As Hanzus noted the rushing attack has started to show up recently and this past week against the Patriots was by far their best performance. While they got the same number of carries, Moss was arguably the more impressive back running both with power but showing elusiveness by making defenders missed.

Bleacher Report: Buffalo Bills rank eighth in NFL

Last Week: 10

Bleacher Report had the Buffalo Bills the lowest last week in their power rankings at 10 but they jump two spots to eighth overall.

"The question now is whether the Bills are capable of making noise in the playoffs. It’s a question we may have an answer to relatively soon. Before their Week 11 bye, the Bills face two NFC contenders in the 6-1 Seattle Seahawks at home followed by a trip to Arizona to battle the 5-2 Cardinals."

The Buffalo Bills do appear to be in the driver seat for the AFC East division title so the next question is can they make a deep run. While the Bills do have tough tests the next two weeks against the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals.

However, the answer to their question was likely answered in Week 5 and Week 6 when they faced two teams there is a good chance they could play at least one in the Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs.
