These are the grades for each position group on the Buffalo Bills at the mid-point of the season.

The Buffalo Bills are officially at the halfway mark of the 2020 season after playing their first eight games, winning six of those. This is how each group has performed over the first half of this season.

Offensive line: A-

When discussing relationships, the phrase “behind every great man is a great partner”. Oddly enough, the same phrase can be said about a football team: “behind every great offense is a great offensive line”. Though the Buffalo Bills offense itself has had a fall from grace in recent weeks, the performance from the Bills’ offensive line has been rather consistent.

Only allowing 13 sacks on the season, good enough for 11th on Football Outsiders rankings, in pass protection, the offensive line has done their job. Additionally, when the run has been apart of the game plan, the Bills offensive line has done a great job of creating holes.

In Week. 8, Buffalo was able to expose the weakness in the Patriot’s right defensive ends and defensive tackles, utilizing runs to the left. This ultimately resulted in two rushing touchdowns for rookie Zack Moss and a big day from Devin Singletary as well.

This has not been without extreme tinkering from Sean McDermott and Brian Daboll as there have been numerous injuries along the offensive line, most recently with Mitch Morse suffering his career-fifth concussion. Luckily for them, Jon Feliciano had come off IR and though he was supposed to be on a ‘pitch count’, he ended up playing the entire game, mostly at center.

As we look ahead at the rest of the season, the team faces two formidable teams before their Week 11 bye against the Seattle Seahawks and the Arizona Cardinals. Luckily for Buffalo, both teams are not necessarily known for their pass rush. This would play greatly into their hands as they wait for more information on the availability of Cody Ford and Morse going forward.
