The Buffalo Bills for the second straight day had a number of starters miss practice.

The Buffalo Bills were back on the practice field ahead of Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots. However, the team was missing a number of key players starting with safety Micah Hyde.

Hyde is one of the key pieces of this defense and if he does miss this week it is certainly a rare occurrence. He has missed only one game in the first three years with the Buffalo Bills.

If Micah Hyde does miss, the Bills could turn to either Dean Marlowe or Jaquan Johnson or a combination of those two.

Another key injury is guard Cody Ford. The second-year player missed last week’s game due to an injury and considering he has missed the second straight day of practice, it seems unlikely that he will play against the New England Patriots.

In terms of replacements, the Bills will have plenty of options and can use Ike Boettger, who started last week in place of Ford. Another option would be to put Jon Feliciano in at left guard and keep Brian Winters at right guard.

However, the decision may be made for the coaching staff as Brian Winters was limited for the second straight day due to a knee injury.

The Buffalo Bills also had two defensive tackles miss Thursday practice with Vernon Butler sitting out due to a groin injury and Quinton Jefferson missed due to a knee injury. Both players were limited on Wednesday. This could just be a way for the coaching staff to give these players some rest or their injuries may have gotten worse and they would be in jeopardy of missing Week 8.

Their availability in tomorrow’s practice will provide more insight into whether they will be playing against the New England Patriots in Week 8.
